There are a ton of different types of body shapes for men and women out there but do you know which one you identify the most with? For both sexes, male and females are defined by their body shape by the measurement of their chest, waist, and hips.  Let’s explore the different shapes to find out where you fit in the most.

Female Body Shapes

Rectangle Shaped:

The rectangle body shape is pretty much straight. Your measurements will be incredibly close in numbers. Your waist will be less than 9 inches smaller than your bust or hip. Rectangle shaped have more of a slim athletic build and a small bust line, as well as a small butt area.

Inverted Triangle Shaped:

The inverted triangle body shape is where your shoulders are wider than your waist. You will have broad shoulders, small hips with great toned legs. This is also an athletic and sporty physique.

Hourglass Shaped:

With an hourglass body shape, you can expect your hip and bust to be close to the same size, with a narrow waist. You have a naturally rounded butt and bust line, making you have a very curvaceous body.

Pear Shaped:

When having a pear body shape, you can expect to have wider hips than your bust line.  Your thighs and butt are round and full, while your chest area is small and your stomach will generally be flat. Your shape is well defined your bottom half.

Apple Shaped:

Apple body shape means that you generally have a larger upper body area than your lower body. Your hips or thighs may be the narrowest part of your body, with about less than six inches smaller than your bust. Making your bust line your accentuated body feature.

Male Body Shapes

Inverted Triangle Shaped:

If you have an inverted triangle body shape, your shoulders and chest will be noticeably broader than your waist and hips. You’re probably in great shape and work on your upper body most days. This is also known as the “v-shaped body”.

Rhomboid Shaped:

When having a rhomboid body shape, your upper and lower body are pretty much balanced. You have broad shoulders and chest that slightly narrows at your waist and hips. Known as an “average” build.

Rectangle Shaped:

A rectangle body shape means that your shoulders, hips, and waist are around the same width. Usually seen as having a tall thin frame, with no significant definition. You have a slimmer athletic build.

Triangle Shaped:

The triangle body shape has a narrower shoulder and chest area, making your lower torso appear slightly larger. This body shape is also known as the “dad bod”.

Oval Shaped:

With an oval body shape, your torso is wider than your hips and shoulders. With a rounder appearance around the stomach area, your shoulders and lower legs look slimmer and narrower in comparison.

Tips on Loving Yourself

  1. Accept you:

What makes you great is that there is only one YOU. No matter what you look like, there will never be another copy.

  1. Accept others:

We all know that at times we talk sh*t about others but that does NOT do anything for you or them. Be as open and accepting to others just as you would like to be.

  1. Surround yourself with positivity:

Sounds easy but this is difficult. With all the negativity that surrounds us, it’s easy to go down that path. Surround yourself with positive people and things that radiate you. You’ll instantly feel better.  

  1. Treat yo’ self:

Small splurges here and there won’t break your budget. Sometimes you just need to do it, who else is going to know what you love more than you?

  1. Little self-love reminders:

There are little quirks that you like about yourself, ADMIT IT. Leave little reminders mentally or physically about your unique self, because those little weird things are what makes you, you.
